Mason opened sectional tournament play at home today with a convincing 17-0 win over Withrow in five innings. Ben Speer moved to 5-0 on the season, pitching the first four innings. Speer allowed just one hit and one hit batter while striking out six. Ronnie Engelman pitched the fifth for Mason, retiring the Tigers in order while striking out two.
The Comets banged out eleven hits in their four innings at the plate today, and took advantage of three HBP’s and twelve walks allowed by Withrow pitching. Mason led 5-0 after two before blowing the game open with an eight run third inning. Leaders on offense for Mason included:

Mason will next face Anderson in the sectional semi-final game, scheduled for Thursday, May 12th at Mason.
